Great book with African culture

The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency is a novel by British writer Alexander McCall Smith. The novel has received two Booker Judge’s Special Recommendations and various book criticisers have given positive feedback about the book. It was also produced as a TV series in 2008.

Alexander McCall Smith writes about Precious Ramotswe who decides to start a detective agency. Everything goes very well until she and her friend J.L.B Matekoni find a bone from a crashed car. This all is happening in Botswana, a traditional African country.

While reading the novel, it was fascinating to get to know a totally different culture. For example, they always drink redbush tea, not coffee. And men can ask women to marry them before they have even got to know each other. The book also shows how different problems are in Africa than in Finland. I would recommend the book to all who wants to read a different detective story.
